Transformation of Diabetic Foot Care: Integration of Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence for the Future of Nursing
Keywords:
Artificial Intelligence, Diabetic Foot, Digital Health, Health transformation in NursingAbstract
The use of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) is accelerating the transformation of diabetic foot care. This presents significant opportunities in areas such as early detection, remote care monitoring, and more accurate clinical decision-making. Various innovations such as mobile applications, telehealth, machine learning algorithms, and wearable devices have shown potential in improving the quality of care, accelerating healing, and reducing the rate of complications and amputations. However, the implementation of these technologies poses various challenges, such as the availability of clinical validation, data security and privacy issues, the readiness and competence of healthcare workers, and the disparity in digital access across regions. This editorial discusses the opportunities, challenges, and impacts on healthcare, research, and policy from the integration of digital technology and AI in diabetic foot care. The editorial emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary collaboration, strong regulations, digital literacy competencies, and ongoing research to ensure the safe, effective, and inclusive adoption of digital technology and AI in nursing practice. The integration of digital technology and AI have significant potential to optimize the quality of diabetic foot care and improve outcomes for diabetes patients in the future.
