Abstract

More than 19 million people aged over 15 years experience emotional mental disorders. Student burnout is a condition where students feel physically, mentally and emotionally tired due to their lives as students. Burnout is thought to be related to the mental health of these students. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between burnout and mental health in students. This study used a cross-sectional research design with simple random sampling and data analysis was carried out using the Chisquare test. The population in this study was 941 students with a sample size of 138 students. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between burnout syndrome and mental health conditions with a p value = 0.000 (<0.05) with a PR value (95% CI) of 2.05 (1.70-2.46). In reducing the risk of emotional mental health disorders, burnout can be overcome by maintaining a balance in life by dividing time for rest, study and implementing a healthy lifestyle. It is hoped that education on the prevention and treatment of burnout and mental health disorders will be provided at the non-communicable disease posyandu in the public health study program at the University of Jambi.
